Kiteboarding Video: How to Walk on Water With Jeremie Tronet
Learning the "Jesus Walk"
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to walk on water? Have you spent hours pondering how Jesus did it? Well, now is your chance to experience firsthand what it feels like to traipse over the blue abyss you once thought was only swimmable. All you need is a kite, a board, and just a little bit of ambition.
Join Jeremie Tronet as he walks (too punny) viewers through the steps of learning his favorite trick: the “Jesus Walk.” He guides you through the step-by-step process, from preparing for the walk all the way down to its flawless execution. Get ready to wow your friends and family with this one. You’ll have followers before you know it!
Step-by-Step
Step 1: Practice taking the board off of your feet and putting it back on
- Tip: Use a tree for practice
Step 2: Pick your board and kite
- Tip: Use a larger kite (over 12m), and loosen the straps on your board (this will make it easier to slide in and out of the board)
Step 3: If you are going to perform the trick on the right side, place your left hand in the middle of the bar and place your kite a little lower than 1 o’clock
Step 4: Start the trick by edging upwind to generate the pop jump
Step 5: Once you jump, turn your shoulders in the direction you’re going, bend your knees, and reach for the board
Step 6: Move the board sideways away from where you are going
Step 7: Start applying pressure on your left hand, pulling the kite and moving it to the other side of the wind window
Step 8: You will begin to hover over the water. This is when you simulate the running
Step 9: Before your kite reaches the other side of the wind window, put the board back on your feet
- Tip: If you find it too difficult to put the board back on your feet, put the board on the water and land on top of the straps
Step 10: Once you become comfortable with the trick, you can add the kite loop at the end
Step 11: As your kite reaches the end of the wind window, but is still high enough, start pulling very hard on the hand that is placed on the bar. This will make the kite rotate very quickly on itself.
Voilá! You've done it!
Video Synopsis
Ever since I came up with that Kiteboarding trick over 12 years ago on the island of Martinique, I have always wanted to make a proper tutorial video on how to land a Jesus Walk.
The Jesus Walk, AKA Jesus Style, isn't an easy trick, but it is one of the most fun to land.
