Chris Bobryk's Kites
Chris rides for Eleveight Kites, so naturally his kite choices will come from their lineup. That said, they have a few models to choose from, so we'll break down his kite choices and when he uses them. Hopefully this will help you understand the kite lineup and which kites would be a good choice for you and your riding style.
Bobryk's Kitesurfing Quiver
Chris has 3 models in his quiver: the 10, 12 and 14 FS for Freestyle, the 10m one-strut OS for light-wind foiling and surfing, and the 17m RS for light wind.
The FS is a classic crossover freestyle kite. This means it's a do-it-all kite with some C kite characteristics like extra pop and slack, yet it also has some big air traits so you can throw powered loops and do big air tricks with it.
Big Air Kite
Sometimes Chris will crack out the Eleveight XS when the wind is cranking and he wants to throw big kiteloops. The XS is designed for holding down a powered edge and throwing quick kite loops where you need to be caught by the kite.
Light Wind Kitesurfing Kite
The RS is the freeride kite and the 17 is one of the more performance-minded light wind kites, meaning if you want to do loops, freestyle tricks, or ride waves, this will be the best choice kite.
On a side note, I've used a lot of light wind kites and I do personally recommend this one. If you just want a pull-and-go kite, this is not it. If you want to train and do light wind tricks, this is an epic choice!
The OS - One Strut Kite
The OS is a simple, lightweight, one strut kite. It's best suited for light wind foiling and surfing. It's a fast, fun option for the foil and easy to pack on a trip. Like all single strut kites, it does get overpowered easily and, while you can ride a twintip powered up, the kite will flutter in strong winds. This is true for all single strut kites to date.
Ryan (Rygo) Goloversic
Many people dream of quitting their job, traveling the world and pursuing their passions. Rygo is one of those people who pulled the trigger. A few years into his career, he decided to change everything and travel as a kiteboarder, freelance videographer & writer. His mission is to share the stoke & help people put the boarding into their kiteboarding. Get outside and kite!
