Can you mix kitesurfing footstraps
A question we get daily from new kitesurfers is if you can mix kiteboarding footstrap brands with different boards. The quick answer is most of the time, yes. However, it might not always be a perfect fit. For example the standard spacing is six inch inline inserts. Some brands like Duotone kiteboarding and North kiteboarding do offset inserts. Duotone also opts to use a track system that will hinder the range on some straps.
Kitesurfing footstraps are flexible
In general, its not a bad idea to match your board with your straps as you are guarantied to get a good fit. Alternatively, its always best to check with the shop or let them recommend combos for you that are tested and proven. Even if you do try to pair yourself, most often, you lose some adjustability in stance. For boots, this is a big deal because your feet are fixed. For kitesurfing footstraps, its not a deal breaker as you can adjust your duckstance inside the strap easily.
With stance, the key is to angle your toes in a way that doesn't put pressure on your joints. As long as this is possible, you are good to go! If the loss of range gives you a pressure point, you might consider getting straps that are better compatible.
Kitesurfing boots are locked in
If the board or strap is paired with a special system, you will need to use that system. Sometimes, the connection might not be as secure if you try to mix special systems like this. In general, brands that mix well are Cabrinha, Slingshot, Liquid Force, North and Airush. There are a few other brands that MACkite does not carry that don't mix well with our brands. I'm not sure on these but check the comments in our youtube video.Lots of riders have been commenting and helping out here! Feel free to contribute to the conversation and share your experience too. Or ask in the comments as well.

If you are in doubt, ask the shop or stick within the brand. Trying to save a buck on discount straps and mixing poorly isa great way to end up spending more in the long run.
