Nathan chats about the 2017 Cabrinha Switchblade:

Today we're going to be discussing the kite you all want to hear more about. The 2017 Cabrinha switchblade. 

It's one of our favorite kites in the shop. and whenever we approach Cabrinha for the next year we look directly at the Switchblade because it's a fantastic kite. It sells well for us mainly because it performs so well. We find ourselves in most situations reaching for a Switchblade because its just an easy kite to love. 

What's New:

You’ll be happy to know that not much has changed on the flying part of the kite, so it flies very, very similarly to last year’s model. The changes for this year consist of a couple features on the kite that will really help it last that much longer. Those increases in durability include a change in bridal material. What you have is a little bit less stretch for 2017, which means the kite will last longer. 

They’ve also changed the material in the canopy to further decrease stretching, and adjusted a couple of the sewing points. Furthermore, they’ve reinforced those on the seams, really helping to increase durability in the kite. Overall construction-wise, it’s a little bit beefier. Flies the same, feels the same in the air, but it’s just a little bit more durability-focused. 

One of the last changes for the 2017 Switchblade is the new sprint system. Basically, what they’ve done is made it so it’s easier and faster to inflate and increased the durability of the whole system for 2017. That’s a wholesale change throughout the entire line of Cabrinha.

Overall the Switchblade remains the kite that we all know and love, just a fantastic kite to fly. It’s good for 98% of the kiteboarding situations in which you might find yourself. In the large sizes and the small sizes it has tons of grunt and a huge top-end rage. It’s really just a fantastic kite overall, whether you’re riding freestyle or freeriding or in the waves, or anything. 

It does almost everything that you want very, very well.
