Foil Drive V2 Unboxing | What Comes Inside the Case?

MACkite is now shipping the V2 Foil Drive cases, which are included with all Foil Drive Gen2 units, so it's time for us to give you an update on what you'll get when you order yours. Eli's got one open and is ready to go through it.

There is no difference between the MAX and Slim versions of the case, so no matter which you ordered, this unboxing will apply to you. However, if you ordered the high-power motor, there is one small difference, and we'll cover that, too.

The case itself is very nice. Outside it's a semi-hard shell with a carry handle and two zippers. Inside it's got a high density foam insert with cutouts for each component to fit snugly into.

User Guide

The first thing you should see when you unzip your case is the user manual. It's actually quite helpful and is worth going over.

Motor

The motor comes with a coozie to protect the propeller blades. If you ordered the HP (High Power) motor, it'll be in two parts, with the stator in the motor compartment and the can in the battery compartment since it's a really snug fit for the cutout. Simply slide them together and you're good to go.

Motor Pod/Mast Adaptor

At the same end of the case as the motor, you'll find the pod that allows you to attach your motor to your mast. All units ship with the universal adaptor now and include a short and long nose cone.

Remote

Next to the Mast Adaptors you'll find your remote. (The wrist leash is tucked in with your motor cable.) The charging cable is in there too, as well as a hardware and spare parts pack.

Accessories

In the long compartment you'll find several accessories, including track foam for improving your signal through the board, a cable guide to reduce drag from the cable along your mast, and the cord for the main unit's charger. You'll also find battery grease, Foil Drive stickers, and the inserts to customize your Mast Adaptor. Once you've set up your Foil Drive, this compartment will be mostly empty, which is perfect since your battery will fit in there.

Battery Charger and Tools

The center compartment holds the charger for your battery. Slide it out, and you'll find a microfiber cloth and tools for assembling your unit. There are also a couple pads to support the nose cone of your main unit if your board's rocker creates a gap.

Remote Charging Pad and Short Nose Cone

Beside the main battery charger is a compartment holding the nose cone you'll use if you opted for the shorter, lighter battery. Lift that out and you'll find a charging pad for your remote.

Main Unit and Long Nose Cone

The final compartment is split between the nose cone for the longer batteries and the main Foil Drive Unit that controls everything.

Mounting Hardware

You'll also find a row of screws to mount your Foil Drive to your board. Each screw has a hole, making them easy to grab and hard(er) to lose.

It's really a great kit, and it's nice to have everything all together and well-protected.
